Rehabilitation Center

Damascus Foundation Inc. runs and manages Damascus Rehabilitation and Reformation Center located in the town of Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan. It Started operation in september of 1997 but was formally launched in January of 1998. The area was leased by the Provincial Government of Bulacan for use of the foundation.

Section 62 of the dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 of Republic Act 9165, requires individuals who are apprehended for use and possession of illicit drugs undergo rehabilitation of at least (6) months . Damascus addresses this need.

Majority, however, of our residents in Damascus are dependents/ users who voluntarily surrender themselves for rehabilitation.

We also accept adolescents who have behavioral problems and referrals from different government agencies  and mission homes.

GOALS

The major objective of the Foundation is to fight the menacing problem of drug addiction in the Philippines by operating a rehabilitation center for drug dependents. Damascus instills in the mind and hearts of the individual the need for continued sobriety to achieve a wholesome and productive life.

OBJECTIVES

1. To mold the residents to become drug free and socailly functional individuals.

2. To assist the residents and their families to develop a harmonious relationship.

3. To encourage the residents to get involved in productive and constructive activities.

$. To enable the residents to be reintegrated into their respective communities.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Damascus uses a holistic approach in our program centering on the Psycho-spiritual dimension. It caters to the moral and spiritual needs of the residents. It gives a personalized treatment to the residents and at the same time involves the family in the rehabilitation program.

The Foundation applies an eclectic and dynamic approach in the six month rehabilitation program of the residents.

1. Psycho-spiritual approach : developing the moral and spiritual values among the residents, through regular masses, bible sharing and other, spirituals activities and seminars.

2. Education: understanding the causes and consequences of drug dependency.

3. Group and community integration: includes projects like environmental conservation, ecology camps, medical missions and other socio-civic religious activities.

4. Livelihood: enabling residents to learn skills pertaining to livelihood opportunities.

5. Networking and Linkaging: establishing contacts and partnerships with different private and public institutions.

6. Sports and recreation: providing activities such as basketball, jogging, aerobics, body building, hiking and indoor games.

7. After-care and follow-up services: keeping in touch with the residents after discharge

and requiring them to report back to the center for monitoring and support.

REQUIREMENTS:

- must be a drug dependent or alcoholic, certified by the Department of Health accredited physician.

- must be accompanied by the parents or guardian

- court order for voluntary or compulsory submission of a drug dependent for confinement, treatment and rehabilitation.

- must not have any contagious disease or mental illness.

- must have complete laboratory works (chest xray, blood and urine test, for individuals over the age of 45- ECG test)

- Parents/guardians must be able to comply with administrative requirements.

CHARITY CASES –

- maybe referred by  families,individuals, hospitals, clinics, civic organizations, government agencies and other charitable institutions.

- only individuals with complete documentations and social case studies will be considered for  acceptance.
